Somewhere Around God's Throne / God Will Take Care

Founded in 1972 by Melvin Cuff, and featuring the talents of Freda and Johnetta Hughes, Annette Briggs, Walter Cuff, and Leroy Holt, the Gospel Voices of Soul toured widely as they developed a funky gospel sound uncommon among Louisville quartet groups. The group recorded on Louisville’s Grace Gospel label, as well as One Way, Messenger, and their own Voices of Soul label. Songwriter and singer Bishop Melvin Cuff is now the pastor of Greater Harvest Missionary Baptist Church in Louisville, which also serves as the practice space for the long-standing quartets The Religious Five and The New Golden Crowns.
