Green Street Baptist Church Youth Choir recorded two LPs in 1968 and 1971 under the direction of civil rights activist and future president of Louisville's NAACP chapter Raoul Cunningham. By integrating more contemporary and youthful music into the repertoire, Cunningham increased the membership in Green Street’s Youth Choir. Under his leadership the choir performed widely in Louisville and was a fixture at many civil rights actions like rallies with the Poor People's Campaign, Dr. Martin Luther King, Senator Georgia Davis Powers, and others.
